Dunlop Latex Cushioning: Premium Latex foam for a dense firm feel

While we use Talalay latex in most of our mattress styles, we do use high-quality, Oeko-Tex-certified Dunlop latex cushioning in our Alpine Classic Dunlop mattress. Like Talalay, Dunlop process latex offers stability, durability, and a crisp firm feel.

Dunlop vs. Talalay

Talalay and Dunlop latex are the two highest quality options for mattress cushioning. The manufacturing process for each is different, which accounts for their individual performance characteristics. Dunlop process latex has a denser, less elastic cell structure, a firmer feel, and less airflow than Talalay. It also costs less to manufacture. This makes Dunlop a great value for those who prefer a firmer, flatter feel or who are looking for a less expensive option in a healthy, reliable mattress. For the hottest sleepers, Talalay latex may be a better choice. Because each latex type has unique attributes, we offer both options in our Alpine Classic mattress.

Why latex foam is better

Latex is a dense, resilient material derived from rubber. Its elasticity makes it excellent for minimizing contact pressure and motion transfer. Unlike polyurethane foam, it performs reliably and maintains its physical integrity over time. Latex is able to fill a tall order: to be soft, flexible, and stable.

Both Dunlop and Talalay latex are more breathable than synthetic “cooling” foams and gels. They promote cooler sleep temperatures, resist mold and mildew, discourage dust mites, and possess anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial properties.
