Deeper Sleep through Deeper Breathing
Healthy breathing is the single most important factor during sleep. It affects the quality of your sleep and directly impacts your overall health. Studies show that sleep deprivation or interruption—common problems for people who snore or have sleep apnea--can be contributing factors in many serious health issues.
European Sleep Works designed the Oxygen Pillow specifically to aid airflow, creating the conditions for more restful, restorative sleep without sacrificing comfort.
Oxygen Pillow Features:
- Maintains proper spinal and neck support
- Opens the airway for expanded lung capacity during sleep for easier breathing
- Works for both back and side sleeping
- Can be used in any direction
- Oeko-Tex certified latex foam and fabric
The Problem with Most Pillows
Ever wake up and not feel rested? The problem could be your pillow. Do you routinely bunch, fold, fluff, or stack your pillows? Do you use your arm to bolster your pillow’s incline or stability? These are common adaptations to correct a pillow that doesn’t function well. Too high or low, too soft or firm, or too quick to wear out—most pillows do a poor job of providing adequate, reliable support. A pillow that doesn’t keep your spine in alignment or provide proper elevation for your head and neck might be constricting your throat and lung capacity. That means greater difficulty breathing and diminished sleep quality.
Oxygen deprivation during sleep is an all-too-common problem that can have lasting negative effects on our health and general well being. For those with snoring issues or chronic sleep apnea, they can include:
- Shortened attention span
- Impaired judgment
- Increased risk of heart attack or stroke
- Daytime sleepiness
- Weight gain
- Memory loss
Fitting For Comfort and Alignment
To achieve proper alignment, you need the appropriate thickness and firmness from your pillow. And everyone is different. That’s why the Oxygen Pillow comes in a broad range of height and firmness options—you can find the “fit” that is right for you.
The Benefits of Incline
Proper pillow size is a function of your primary sleep positions, the depth of your shoulders, the size and weight of your head, the length of your neck, the firmness of your mattress…and what feels comfortable. The goal is to provide sufficient incline. Our experience has shown that adequate incline—lifting the head and neck up and out of the common tucked or “flexed” position—is the most effective way to impact airflow and snoring.
Constructed for Support
The Oxygen Pillow has a unique tri-layer construction featuring a hollow core, internal hinges and added depth around the edges. During back sleeping, the hollow core allows the head to drop back into alignment while the edge supports the curve of the neck. For side sleeping, the internal hinges in the top and bottom layers flex to accommodate the shape of your head without collapsing at the edge. The pillow’s edge “fills in” the span from neck to shoulder. Your head rotates back while your face turns slightly up—which helps keep your torso from rotating forward.
Better Neck Support
The Oxygen Pillow was engineered to do more than just support the neck. It was designed to impact breathing. But because of its unique construction, material stability, and sizing options, it has proven to provide exceptional neck support—better than standard "contour" pillows that claim to support your neck. The Oxygen pillow takes into account the anatomy of the neck and head. The hollow core design provides comfortable support from the top of the head through the chin providing side sleepers with the appropriate support. The design of contour pillows caters to back sleepers while often leaving the neck inadequately supported during side sleeping.
Nighttime breathing is impacted directly by sleep posture. The Oxygen Pillow is engineered to manage head and neck incline and support proper body alignment—positioning you for deeper breathing.
